The pilots were praised for their skill (no doubt) and extensive training. I guess Aussie pilots are trained in knife fighting (hopefully) and not how to fly an instrument approach with a knife sticking out of your back...

Hey, they were Jetstream pilots! They can probably shoot a beautiful inverted ILS with knives stuck in their backs - no big deal!
Btw, I think they were Kiwi, not Aussie pilots.

Seriously, it's amazing the 19-seaters still do not require cockpit doors. We used to joke that we had a "titanium reinforced" curtain instead...

Anyone remember the movie Chrocodile Dundee? Was an Aussie guy living in NY. There was a scene where he was being mugged, and the mugger had a small pocket knife--He says, "You call that a knife?" and pulls out this hatchet from hell. Kind of reminded me of that..
