Alright then how easy is it to use? Say the standard Jepp pro log book, roughly how long would it take to enter one of these?

took me 5 days of about 3 hours a day to imput one of those student logbooks that were filled up....probably a couple weeks for a full jepp unless you're doing it nonstop

No doubt...entering a whole logbook onto a program like Logbook Pro would be a chore. Figure if you are really fast, at best 1 minute per entry.

Bigfatdaddy...

Could you give me an idea how often one could get home per month on reserve at UAL at the LCO?

I know it's a min of 12 days and 11 on the flex but how do those days get assigned? 2 at time? 3? 5?

Gotta let the missus know what she's in for...

DV

It depends on your PBS choices, but you could expect 3-4 reserve periods of around 4-6 days on with a few 3-4 day breaks in between depending on the mix. Should be commutable for you with the long/short call system.

When I did mine it took about 70 hrs of hardcore working at it about 10 hrs a day. That was entering 1 student pilot logbook 2 full jepp pro pilot logbooks and about 3 months of another logbook for a total of about 5500 hours and 3700 flights. if you decide to transfer everything over like I did be sure to back everything up after every month (the system crashed on me and I lost about a year and a half of entry's).

I've been chipping away at transferring my paper copies to LBP now for 2 months. The biggest problem you will encounter is adjusting for errors made on the paper versions that aren't surfacing until you use LBP.

My suggestion to solve this is.....don't get ahead of yourself when entering your times from your paper logbooks to LBP. After entering one page of your paper version into LBP, take an extra minute or two to verify that the times that were carried forward on the paper version, match up to the accumulated time in LBP. If you don't do this, you will be pulling your hair out trying to find the mistake. Basically...LBP must mirror your paper version exactly. Otherwise, if the interviewer decides to look at your paper version and compare it to the nicely prepared LBP binder (with times that don't compare exactly), you might have yourself some 'xplaining to do. The interview is tough enough without you having to two-step inaccuracies betwen the paper and electronic version.

Otherwise, Logbook Pro is all it's cracked up to be. Oh....and backup, backup and backup your data. Email the data to yourself on yahoo, hotmail, etc. Sprinkle copies of your backed up data all over the place (a friends house, crashpad, saftey deposit box, fire-proof safe, etc.)

GOOD LUCK!

I got an accounting computer binder from staples and printed out on normal paper in landscape style a hardcopy of logbook. I also printed out some of the summaries. As was stated before the interviewers liked the clean cut style and ease of information.

Most interviews will state if they need the logbook or a summary of times. In the invitation letter this should be stated.

Here's how I protect my LBP data:

1) About once a month I save a LBP backup file onto my desktop (makes it easy to find for step 2).

2) Then I go to my yahoo email and send myself an email with the LBP backup as an attachment.

3) Now I have a backup file on my desktop as well as on the yahoo servers.

I have had to use the backup file 2x (my computer crashed). Glad I had the backups ready. 2 years ago I entered all data, line by line, from my two paper logbooks. It took me 30 days x 2 hours a day to log 5,000+ hours.

I just wish LBP and APDL were mac compatable because I've had my mac for 2.5 years with 0 CRASHES!!!. I've had my PC for 1 year and 2 CRASHES. PC's suck!!!
