yeah that was my second question... should I go for the 22" or 26"? Also, what do you suggest for a flight case around $200?

Yeah, that's because ACMI guys usualy are traveling on tickets and not jumpseating. So they can board early in the process and put their bag in sideways and it's no big deal. When you're jumpseating and getting on a full airplane it's going to be alot harder to stick that 26' bag somewhere.

I have the 22" but kinda wish I would have went with the bigger one seeing I always could use just a little more space. I see lots of guys with the 26" and they all say it no problem. I fit mine in the overhead bin on the EMB120 and is a little tight, depending on how I pack it, but works fine. The bag is a tank and as much crap as I put it though (along with the LAX and SFO rampers) anything else would have crumbled after the first few months. It already looks like I have been using it for 10 years. I got the LW flight case as well and is very nice but haven't really used it yet because it won't fit in the BRO and have to use a softside headset bag. I will have to wait until I got to the jet to use it.

I have and its usually riding on foreign carriers where I have the problem. US carriers no problem.

Technically, the 26" is not a legal carry-on. I currently carry it myself. In the US and Mexico I have not had a problem with domestic carriers. Now when I put certain European carriers in the mix, they will enforce the rules even in the States. I had a problem with Swiss Air this summer and they made me check my bag, I was not happy about that and I even got the manager involved. Air France f/a said something to me but I told him I was bringing it on anyway and that stopped the argument.

One of the above posters seems to think because we get pax tickets we somehow get to board first/early. Not, true. We board just like everyone else.

Does the width and depth of this bag fit in most overheads?

The 22" will fit wheels in or wheels out in just about any overhead. I think SOME of the MD-80 overheads it won't, as well as some of the 737's that are towards the front of the cabin. At least on some of CAL's anyway. 75, Airbus, back of the 73, EMB170, not a problem.

ACMI, an Aircraft Crew Mx Insurance carrier. Think Atlas, Polar, World, Gemini, Southern, Kalitta, etc. They often do a lot of commercial dead heading on various passenger airlines around the globe to get to their airplane, or get home.
