You're a TEACHER for cryin' out loud...don't you know how to enter/transit Class C airspace by now? Or at least you know where to look for the answer in the appropriate reference...don't you!?
How many times do you transit Class C VFR without going to the primary airport. Unless you train underneath a Charlie the answer is never to rarely. I figure the guy knows how to get into the airspace but he wants to make a good impression on the girl and wants it to be a seamless transition. Cut him a break.

haha ouch john, I think he was more interested in the opinion of whether or not he should call them on the tele before hand or just wait 'till he's in the air. it would stink to have this girl all excited to go flying and then have ATC turn you down when you got there.

Of course I know how to enter Class C! It's nice to gather a little info about sightseeing when you have never really taken an airplane up to just look around a populated area before. I've been in Columbus' Class C many, many times and I have flown to all of the nearby satellite airports. I'm familiar with it.

Columbus does get busy at times. I just thought it would be nice to give the controllers a heads up so everything goes as planned and I don't get turned away.

Sorry.

It says right there on the sectional 'contact xxx appch on xxx.xx within 20nm'.

You call up approach and tell them:
who you are
where you are
what you want
