Default Coyote Strike .... Coyote??

What is everyone, including the coyote, doing up at 2 in the morning?

From Associated Press:

MEDFORD, Ore. — A small jet landing at Medford's airport struck a coyote, killing it. The jet was undamaged.

Airport Director Bern Case said passengers on the flight from Las Vegas may not have noticed the impact about 2 a.m. Monday. It was a US Airways flight operated by Mesa Airlines.

"We have wildlife issues all the time, but this is the first I've ever heard of a coyote strike," Case said.

The Medford airport is fenced against wildlife, Case said, but rabbits are plentiful on the airfield.

He said the coyote could have gotten into the airfield by swimming a creek that crosses the fence, and it might have been disoriented by stormy weather.

Maybe Mesa is trying to save on catering.

Ha, well at my airport, we have quite a few of them hanging around. I'm about to get my gun and get "clearance" to fire

A good friend hit a deer on takeoff. Plane was totaled and he was lucky to walk away. I've had coyotes run across the runway or a taxiway within a hundred feet of me a couple times.

had a coyote about two weeks ago on the runway during our landing, stopped about 100 feet from it but the darn thing just sat on the centerline staring at us. Tried throttling the engine, yelling, clapping, nothing worked. 180'd and exited the runway.

Coyotes are the cockroaches of the mammalian world. We get them in the yard here in the midwest in the middle of town. Garbage, cats and poodles (and other obnoxious little yappers) are on the menu.

Friends of Wile E. Coyote gathered today to morn the loss of one of their long time colleagues. "Wile E. was a great inspiration to all of us at Warner Brothers Cartoons" they said. "He will be missed."

ACME spokesperson Chuck Jones requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Toontown Home for the Elderly Cartoon Characters.

Godspeed Wile E.

Hmmm, sounds like someone has a little too much free time on his hands!

At least we're not like my FedEx friends - they're actually arguing about cookies and jumpseats. My 4 year old nephew will say "jumpseat? What jumpseat? Just gimme the chocolate chip ones!"

No coyotes at my airport, but turkeys.....the dumbest animals on the face of the earth. I once made three trips down the runway, with Navajo engines at full blast and out of sync, trying to get them to wander off. Dumb as rocks.

But tasty with stuffing and cranberry.

Default Pigstrike

A Florida ANG F-16 hit a pig on the runway at JAX a few years ago. Porky and the airplane were both severely damaged. The press had fun with that one -- "hogging the runway", etc.
