Any good movies on DVD?
I'm home today as the result of endless maintenance on one of our trainers and thought it might be fun to rent a movie. I thought about renting The Astronaut Farmer but after reading the reviews on IMDB.com I'm not so certain anymore. I'm in the mood for a good sci-fi or action type movie. Can anyone vouch for Astronaut Farmer or give me suggestions for any other good movies?

I just bought Live Free or Die Hard on hd-dvd. It plays on dvd machines too I beleive, but at $30 you wouldn't want to use it for just that. I like the scene where McClain brings down a helicopter using a car launched off a cashiers island, and later gets himself a ride on the tail of an F-35. However silly it is it's a fun movie.

Netflix is the way to go - if you can't find something to watch in 90,000+ titles....
They also have a streaming service (just announced a huge expansion of that yesterday) that allows you to watch movies on demand via broadband. In fact, I'm watching one now!

Totally satisfied customer here- I get the $20 all you can eat package, and have nothing but compliments for it. If you happen to get a dud movie - it happens from time to time- they send you an extra at cost to them and take your word for it. If you lose a movie they assume the blame and do not charge for it. I actually lost a movie then after many weeks it turned up and I mailed it back to them. I get the Blu Ray and HD-DVDs, they stock every title available.

No not at all - free is always better. But if you have a monthly entertainment budget, Netflix isn't a bad way to go. I always hate recommending movies because of wide variety of tastes out there. Let us know what you watched.

I was surprised at how good Transformers was. I thought it was going to be pretty stupid but they did VERY well with the film. Also I recommend Battlestar Galactica. Just start with season one. I never liked SciFi but was doing a search on best TV shows of 2004-> etc. to see what's out there. It was constantly rated #1 or in the top 5 so I decided to rent the first DVD of season 1. Probably the best written show I've ever seen regardless of taste. Remember how the Matrix made you feel when you saw part one for the first time? When the concept freaked you? Well Battlestar Galactica is the same way. Only scifi show I've ever really watched.
