Default Thanksgiving Travel Stories 2007

As most everyone knows by now, I’m a news junkie and read all kinds of stuff voraciously. Today is the traditional start of the Thanksgiving travel and the news is about radio communications problems in Dallas, fog in Atlanta, wind in New York, and snow in Chicago. Instead of believing everything just because it’s on tv or the internet, it occurred to me to ask you guys about travel realities since you are living it. So have flights been delayed more than usual? Any other problems? Any good, positive stories?

I don’t have travel plans except drive down to the Rescue Mission to cook and serve. Lunch I might add, since they don’t seem to trust me with dinner. I’m going to miss all the fun at the airports. Yeeeehaww.

Be safe everyone. Happy Thanksgiving.

Flying CVG-CHA yesterday, we saw about four or five flights on the ground in CHA that had diverted from ATL. Delta ops did a great job getting everybody out in a timely manner.
Buddy of mine was supposed to work ORD-MKE-ORD-IND-ORD-MEM last night. MKE turn got canceled and IND-ORD was suffering from about three hours of flow last I heard from him. Nothing abnormal for ORD this time of year.

I flew out of IND-MCO yesterday morning, not only was the flight about 75% capacity or less, it was on time and the Wx was great. Hell, even the flight home in a brand new Piper 6X was great until I hit KY and the winds went to 50kts @ 3-6000'.

Default Spreading Cheer At The Airport

Thanks guys for sharing. Are you the only ones working this holiday??

I didn't want to start another thread, so I'm posting this article here. Many may think this guy is a self-serving jack in the box, but I think he has a good point. If you're going to spread something, might as well spread cheer and good things. Right? Right?

Flew from LAX fog to EWR rain today. Left 3 minutes early and arrived 35 minutes early. Nice day.

Tomorrow I go to Rome. No turkey in Rome, but I'll have pizza or pasta instead!

Just flew from Indiana to Wisconsin, passing overhead ORD. Lots of Holding instructions being given. I'll be passing it again in about an hour and a half, so we'll see if conditions improve now that the front is passing.
