Default Public perception of pilots...

If you want to laugh or cry, find out what the public believes we do and what we get paid for it:

At least the pay was accurate. A few years ago I would have laughed at the stated requirement that you have "250 hours to be a commercial pilot"...but it's not so funny now

The allure: Not only do you work flexible hours and get paid to travel all over the world, you get the adrenaline rush of controlling an airplane. And maybe, just maybe, people will start to call you “Maverick.”*

*Disclaimer - "Maverick" only applies to Embry Riddle Graduates.

I thought of the riddle rats more as a "Goose" more than anything

$59,000???? Where the hell do you get that and only have 250hrs. Maybe 2500hr pilot, but even then that's pushing it.

That's what I thought. I also keep running into people who believe airline pilots hand-fly everything. They're amazed an autopilot exists.

I always get the opposite. The computer does everything, right?
