Default Boeing Brown

Why didn't Mr. Boeing paint the cockpit of the 737NG brown? And what started the brown color in the first place?

Just two lingering questions of mine.

Oh, and why I have your attention, why are the Russians and Airbus enamored of that blue color?

Old Boeing is Grey (or Gray) and new Boeing is Brown. 737's are from the '60's.
