Is that the one that you posted pictures of not too long ago?

Hey Pip, where is Gastons? If it's out in the West anywhere near Fayetteville I might have to go check it out sometime!

that is the one..it fits into the nicest strip category. If there is one nicer I have not seen it at 4000x150 (give or take a few) and smooth and flat like a fairway

Definitely one of the most gorgeous grass fields I've ever seen. Do they normally allow public traffic? Or is it a residents only kind of thing?

residents or invited guests only

you unfortunately have to know someone there go land, it is self policed so a full stop taxi back you could probably get away with but someone usually inquires over unicom. They all pay big money to maintain the field in the shape it is in and have meetings based on the most turf friendly procedures so they hate to see a 152 come in and lock up their brakes or not be noise friendly

Valier, Montana 7S7

First place I ever landed on grass... on a trip from Denver to Anchorage and back. We tied down and camped out. Went into Cut Bank the next morning and then headed for Alberta. Good memories.

Cordova Muni is nice too but it's not exactly grass:

It was the place to go with my flight students. Offered a great long rwy, as well as a shorter one with obstacles for fine-tuning some skills. Always well kept too!
That is really close to where I live! (I go to MSU)

Spartan,

Gastons is located near Mountain View. I have no idea how close that is Fayetteville (aka Fayettenam aka Walmartville). Check out their website for more info. If you enjoy fishing, eating fish, the outdoors in general or are just looking for a unique place to put in your logbook this is it.

Looking at the charts it's only about 167 miles from where I fly out of. How's the restaurant out there? I might just head out that way sometime soon. Is the place usually pretty busy? I wouldn't want to commit to too big of a challenge this early in my flying career.

Beaumont, Kansas! Great place to fly into (about 20 miles east of Wichita). Good food, great people plus where else can you land and then taxi down Main Street and park in front of the Inn?

Check it out!
