I flew through OK city in 1989 and met a coperate pilot for Phillips oil that had a pilot's license that said all aircraft sigined by one of the Wright brothers I do not remember which brother, but he let me see it and said the FAA did not like him having it but he would never surender it.

Of course, such a license would not "grandfather" someone into exemption from requirements which were instituted later, such as type ratings, medical exams, etc.

Plus, he has a very impressive "I love me" wall in the AOC.

These guys fascinate me... the amount of money they put into the system is phenomenal. These are pilots who collect ratings. I find it hard to believe they are married. I haven't dated a girl yet that would put up with the amount of financial loss required to support this hobby. But it is interesting none the less. Look these guys up.
- John Lear - every rating possible by the FAA
- Leiland Mozart Duke - MD-11 pilot probably 50+ types and most all other ratings
- Robert Blaine Briggs - 100 Types and almost all other ratings
Does anyone know of any other note-worthy ratings collectors besides these guys that have an absurd amount of FAA tickets? These people blow my mind.

However I do find it VERY annoying when I ask someone what ratings they have and they say "All of them" then I ask about helicopter and they say "well no...".

I'm not able to pull anything up on FAA.gov, but I'm pretty certain Barry Schiff has a ton of ratings...I seem to remember an article in AOPAPilot years ago about trying to reach 300 "types" in his logbook, even though he considered the Warrior, Archer, and Cherokee different types, same with 150's/152's, etc. I wish I could pull it up though, I'd be interested to see what's on his certificate.

Had a guy at NWA who did this and when the feds got a hold of it they took every rating he had away, except what he needed to go to work(he was lucky)

Leiland Duke
Leiland was at Fedex also. He too was a nice guy to fly with and pretty mild mannered. He didn't brag, just liked doing the rating thing as a hobby. He retired about a year ago. He has a couple of small airplanes that he still flies.
