I didn't want to say it, but all of these comments make me realize why we are treated the way we are as pilots. You people like your jobs. I am actually surprised you even refer to it as work, instead of fun. The job may be fine, but what about the lifestyle that goes along with it. I am 26, been laid off from 2 airlines, been in 3 different segments of the industry and have 2 types and lived in 6 different cities since college. Sound like fun? But hey the chicks dig it. Apparently.

It is one of the reasons why we are hated by management.
I feel your pain. Of the one flying club I instruced for, Two FAR 135 cargo places, the air ambulance company, two commuter airlines, and the one FAR 121 cargo airline I worked for, only Ameriflight still is in business. When I interviewed at World, they joked that it might be an omen. Cities I lived in LAX/SFO/RNO/MIA/BOS/BTV/MHT/BTV/ my car for a couple months while in DC-8 training/SRQ area/BTV/ then I got my present job. I'm lucky Some of my friends have several more companies under their belt. One guy was on furlough from two airlines at the same time. This is something that my military trained brethern will never understand.

I, and I'm sure everybody agrees that the QOL could be leaps and bounds better, especially during the start of your career. But hey, stop and smell the roses every now and then, if you don't, you'll go mad, and it won't matter what you do for a living.

I didn't think it was such a bad idea to have a thread with some kind of positive note to it... we spend most of our words complaining about our jobs, it is always helpful to stop and think about what you like about it.
