FBO line technician

The regional FO might get paid for half the time he spends working. If he's lucky.
Any entry-level service job will pay more than FO at most regionals.

I made $13 in California, plus large tips from the many rich dudes who housed their jets in our hangars. had a lot of overtime and holidays at double-pay. Flight Options pilots frequently griped about how I made more than them.

In my experience, I have learned that pay as well as appreciation for a job well done will be better at a privately owned FBO as opposed to a national or chain FBO. (i.e.- Signature, Mercury Air, etc...) Some of the "Big Boys" tend to look at the line techs as easy to replace. I would stick to the smaller operators. Do good by them, and they'll do good by you because they don't have to pass their decisions through a corporate office.

I was a lineman from 2004 to 2007 at a private (not a Million Air, SheltAir or Signature type of place) FBO on Long Island. I started out at $12/hr and by the time I left (bc I was offered a pilot gig ) I was making $20/hr
40+ hours was time and a half.
56+ hours was double time.
It wasn't uncommon for me to work over 75 hours in a week during the busy summer season... Oh, the good ol' days!

I think they start our guys out at $10/hr here, Midwest airport, Class-D, but smaller operation. We do a lot of moving aircraft though due to our operation as a service center and avionics installation shop on top of aircraft sales.
