I was making $15/hr at a private FBO here on the west coast but started at $11/hr back in 2006. As mentioned above, try your best to stay away from the big chains of FBO's. Lots of drama and they truly believe you are replaceable.
Standard shifts for my airport were 6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm, and they were flexible for me while going to school.

I am currently a LST for a big name FBO. I started out at $12/hr, but at the end of six months it was bumped upto 13. The schedule isnt so flexible, so a couple students work 10pm-6am, and go to school for a couple hours before going to bed.
