I absolutely do not believe civil servants should have unions. I served for decades without a union. Gov is plenty generous as it is.

and yes, public sector Unions are nothing like skilled labor Unions. They just hold the Govt hostage until they write a check. A check using my money.

this is the issue. I have met like 2 transgendered people my entire life. But we’re conditioned by our media overlords to be at each others throats about stuff that doesn’t effect us. A liberal and a conservative pilot care about the exact same things they just don’t realize it:
1. how much money do I make
2. how safe is my communiry
3. how good our the schools for my children
4. can we keep these good times rolling in perpetuity

Frankly, most (maybe all?) of the dozen+ states I've lived in start school in August, and 'early' August wasn't all that out of the norm. Neither I nor my kids attended any school that started in September, though I remember my Mom who grew up in New England say she always started afer Labor Day. It's been region dependant for decades, AFAIK.
