Default GA Insurance going up and more restrictions

https://youtu.be/vflWOx561dc?t=836

The YouTube link starts about 14 minutes into the video done by Dan Gryder. He's interviewing someone in the Aviation Insurance Business. Some major changes are coming.

-Only 12-13 companies are writing policies for GA aircraft
-Reinsurance is getting more difficult, companies are taking more of a loss
-They're looking at 500 hour min time before writing a policy, and 100 hours in make and model
-Pilots age 70 and over only have 2 companies that will write coverage
-no multiengine coverage for pilots 70 and over
-rate increases running around 25%

There have already been 9 fatal GA accidents in July.

Well ain’t you a ray of sunshine!?!

GA is definitely getting to be an ever more expensive habit.

Admitting that one listens to Gryder, et al, is a bit like admitting one has a venereal disease, or subscribes to The National Enquirer.

Except those two things are more respectable.

Well Dan is a **bit** opinionated but he does admit when he's wrong and makes the corrections. I like what Dan and other YouTube pilots are doing with the "AQP for General Aviation". If it becomes widespread among GA pilots I think it could save lives.
