You have an ally in your 2 years of complaining.
And that ally is, 1990's Joe Biden.

[QUOTE=ReluctantEskimo;3818107Perhaps this will teach poor Excargodog a lesson in inevitability.

That no matter what the experts say, no matter how the odds are stacked, or no matter how certain you are in the outcome...

The game still needs to be played.[/QUOTE]

unlikely. Stby for a flood of fickle feckless finger pointing

Not surprising. That reality goes all the way back to President Eisenhower's complaints. And now the current NATO Secretary General wants to extend the NORTH ATLANTIC Treaty Organization to the Pacific:

Like we needed more weak allies to protect...

No I did not. You can only say the same thing so many times for 2 years before my eyes glaze over.

But let me add some new content for you today. The Russians bombed a children's hospital.
They're terrorists.

Truth. But the notion of ok that allows these crazies to go on lobbing 155s at each other business as usual is growing stale. Increasing difficult to sell on fictionalized historical parallels or jive about world harmony. This ends only one way. Sad. Hardly the last chapter or war of its ilk.

$hit happens in wars. Ever been in one?

I actually met the former F-117 pilot once who hit the Al-Amiriyah civilian air raid shelter. It was his assigned target. Intel thought it was a command and control bunker. Two GBU-27s, right on target. 400+ civilian dead.

Oh, and napalm sticks to kids too.

Difference being an intel error and an intentional attack on civilian children. A building marked "children's hospital" would be your first clue.

Intent is all of the difference. And it's something that you completely avoided.

One doesn't know the intent. Was Ukraine actually targeting all those people laying on the beach in Crimea? Probably not. You knock down an incoming missile the parts don't just magically disappear - $hit falls out of the sky somewhere else. Unless you are actually an insider in Russian targeting, you have no idea where that bomb was aimed. Or what it's CEP is for that matter. I'd like to think that no civilians were burned alive in the fire bombings of Dresden and Tokyo, but I know better.

You ever see a White Phosphorous burn?

It poisons you as wells burns you.

Napalm is less deadly.

Really working that whataboutism on overdrive tonight.
The fact of the matter is that this isn't the first time they've targeted civilian centers. Shopping malls and schools. A hospital is par for the course.

The fact that you can stand there and deny intent is too far for me. Enjoy fighting for the wrong side. Good night.

I'm not denying intent. I'm saying neither you nor I have the facts to establish what intent was. $hit happens in wars. We had a pair of 5-15s shoot down a pair of Army Blackhawks once, believing them to be Hinds. I don't think the F-15s INTENT was to kill 26 people in a friendly fire accident but they sure did, and it wasn't even a war, just a no-fly zone for Pete's sake.

https://www.mindtherisk.com/literature/150-friendly-fire-the-accidental-shootdown-of-u-s-black-hawks-over-northern-iraq-by-scott-a-snook

On the other hand two air superiority F-15 pilots who one would have thought would have known the difference between a couple of Hind-Ds and a couple of UH-60s with saddle tanks BOTH made the decision to kill what turned out to be friendly helicopters making an unforced error despite having AWACS available for sorting stuff out.

I repeat my question:

Ever been in a war?

And sometimes it doesn't even take a war. Here's an F-4 that shot down his own wingman in an entirely unforced error after being embarrassed by being outmaneuvered bt a QF-102 drone it was supposed to shoot down:

https://www.upi.com/Archives/1981/08...8833367560000/

Did the pilot/WSO INTEND to fire the missile? H€LL yeah. Did they INTEND to down their wingman? Possible, but I doubt it. $hit happens in military operations.
