French opposition breaks with Macron…

An excerpt:
An excerpt:
VILLEPINTE, France — Jordan Bardella, the leader of the far-right National Rally, said he would provide ammunition to Ukraine but would not send French troops to the war-torn country nor send long-range missiles if he's appointed prime minister.
"My position has not changed, and that is to support Ukraine by providing defense equipment, ammunition, operational logistical support and defensive weaponry to enable Ukraine to protect itself to hold the front," Bardella told reporters Wednesday on the sidelines of the Eurosatory arms show in the suburbs north of Paris.
"Unlike the president [Emmanuel Macron], I am opposed to sending French troops and soldiers to Ukraine," he said, adding that boots on the ground were "a red line."
Bardella ruled out sending long-range missiles that could hit Russian territory, according to Reuters.
Paris and Kyiv are finalizing plans to send Western trainers, including French ones, to Ukraine. The plans would likely be jeopardized if the National Rally enters the French government following the snap election Macron called as a response to his party's massive defeat in EU elections earlier this month. French voters head to the polls on June 30 and July 7.
If opinion polls are correct, the National Rally is set to make sizable gains in the National Assembly, and Bardella could become prime minister if his party secures a majority. As president of the Republic, Macron is the chief of the armed forces, but the prime minister controls the budget.
In recent months, the National Rally has toned down some of its controversial positions on Russia and NATO. The far-right party pulled down from its website its defense manifesto from the 2022 presidential election, which called for deepening diplomatic ties with Moscow and exiting the military alliance's integrated command.
Bardella was keen to assuage concerns that a victory from his party would weaken France on the global stage. "I don't intend to weaken France's voice and commitment on the international stage, and I'll be extremely respectful of that," he told reporters, reiterating that his party no longer wants France to pull out of NATO's integrated command as long as the war in Ukraine is ongoing.

If we can point out that the "children of the magenta" have generational issues, surely we can also criticize the "boomers" for their challenges in the digital age. Maybe we should call them the "children of ink and vacuum tubes". Truth is, many of our seniors have trouble recognizing when they are being presented with an agenda & are very quick to (prolifically in excargo's case) re-post media that confirms their own bias. To be fair, this is a challenge for most humans, but the generations raised with the internet do seem to be more savvy in this arena.

Because I thought it was interesting. Quick review of the first and last 15 pages. 1-15, 315-329.
You, Sonic, and Excargo are the big 'let Putin be Putin' supporters. Three others did a total of 5 posts and they appear that they might agree with you. But their driveby posts looked like they had tinges of full blown conspiracy in their blood but they departed quickly after 1-2 'fire and forget' posts.
You'd think with 219,300+ views that more people would be jumping on the 'let Putin be Putin' bandwagon. :-/
It was surprising/interesting to see that the number of repeat opponents was fairly limited. Hubcapped, Reluctant Eskimo, rickair777, Jbird and MaxQ are the only posters in double digits (tracking the first 15 and last 15 pages). There might have been others in the 300 middle pages.
Most of the 1-2(3?) posters weren't really involved in significant issues. Like the 'don't call me Shirley' portion of the first 10 pages. ;-)

it truly was/is the perfect pigeon and chess board metaphor. As soon as anyone nails it on a point, it pivots, and then either purposefully misquotes, lies, or changes the subject. It has never been interested in rational discourse. It does not deserve anyones real attention or thoughtfulness. You get what you deserve, and komrade kargo/meto (still not convinced they are not the same after that third person “mistake”) deserves nothing of value from normal humans.
60% of the total posts in the month of june, and EVERY single one is in support of RU. Nothing about sweden, nothing about chek arty, nothing about stalled kharkiv offensive, nothing about western commitments and actual arrival of material. If this is not an RU propaganda bot I cannot fathom what is.
And for rik, i do not think anything i said is factually incorrect. I would respectfully ask you reign in folks that spew an agenda, let the thread be as is, or just shut it down if you dont want normal people to occasionally push back against this obvious no integrity agenda pushing troll.

Look, if you want to decrease views, just stop the elementary school taunts, name calling, and ad hominem attacks. That'll take a real chunk out of the views. But more to the point, why don't you educate yourself on some of the ISSUES inherent in the title of the thread. At least then you could make a cogent argument why someone's opinion (or alleged facts) are incorrect. Because there really is a reality there. If wishes counted - hell, I've been wishing for several decades that our NATO allies would actually pull their own weight. I'm wishing right now that they could make up for thirty years of peace dividends in just a few years, but that ain't going to happen either. Getting to 2 or even 3% of GDP for a few years doesn't offset three decades of grossly underfunding their defense. I wish it did, but as the saying goes, 'if wishes were horses than beggars would ride.'
They tried to do deterrence on the cheap and it didn't work.
