Nobody ever said the world was a safe place. Do you think we would have done better in WWII if the USSR hadn't absorbed 8.7 million military (and 19 million civilian) casualties fighting on OUR side? And given that we went only five years later into a war in Korea involving Communist China, in which our troops lost 36,000 dead service members do you think we wouldn't have built up those forces anyway? Or the Vietnam War where we lost another 50,000 dead?

Interventions anywhere are costly, nor is there any guarantee of eventual success. All the more reason we should enter them cautiously.
Ahh, so because the Soviets fought Nazis, that made it ok for them to forcibly invade and occupy the Eastern bloc countries (among others) & use many of the same tactics the Nazis did to subdue and control the populations there? That's one way to look at it...I guess. Not much of a defense of your "the US was totally unaffected by Soviet control of half of Europe" argument though.

There's some obvious disconnect from reality. He's not a soldier. He was a soldier. Khmer Rouge had soldiers. Nazi Germany had soldiers. The U.S. has white supremacists in our ranks. The Norwegian had soldiers who were Qusilings. None of them are worth a darn today. He's not some high level 3 or 4 star general who knows more about the inner workings of the global militaries and national objectives of countries. The fact that YOU haven't heard of the ISW doesn't mean OTHERS haven't heard of them. Guess who they are? They include high level 3 and 4 stars generals who've actively lead our troops in preparing to fight Russia.

But you think we should follow your opinion vs the opinion of known experts. Oh kay....

Delusional. The U.S. military spending, for 40+ years, in Europe had nothing to do with the Russian occupation of Eastern Europe or East Germany?

Look deeper. Deeper than your opinion or mine. Policy at home, spending more to the point, ISW who nobody ever heard of, can go feed at the trough like any other bs lobby. I’m not selling anything. What’s any of it do with white power?

You offer empty promises of domestic policy. There's no investment being held back by Ukraine. Just lies and misdirection.

isw is free bro……check it out, and look at their bench. Alot of people with more street cred than all of us put together.

cargo is certainly a fascinating troll……it must be tough living in the mind of such a scared and delusional individual to the point that he obsessively posts here all day, cant have normal conversations, and can never admit he was in error when presented with direct evidence. You have to admire his obtuse bullheaded lack of ability to understand nuance. can you imagine flying with this guy? Holee

Street cred went bye bye with the 90’s. This is a screw up sent to fix a screw up. Stop pretending.

Spare some souls to die another day. Talks, now.

I don’t see ex a freight dog. Other than that, hits & misses don’t scream identity mismatch imo? Could be from California, that’s always possible

Nope. It had more to do with protecting the then existing NATO members who even then were too cheap to fund their own defense adequately. And what did that get us? In 1980 the US National debt was $914 Billion. Today it is $34.6 TRILLION.

Maybe it's time for Europe to actually pay for the defense of Europe...

It is good they are stepping up to a much greater extent than in the past.
