Alleged 1990's 1 million Marks payout. Orban switch from anti Russian to pro-Russian positions. (or at least neutral)
Mogilevich and Putin around 2010 or so. Putin suddenly acquires a cultural/political ally in Orban. Orban rhetoric now mirrors Putin's. He now actively supports Russian interests regarding Hungary and the EU.
Orban/Putin/Russian Criminals/Russian Oligarchs : long history.
Putin has embraced Oligarchic Fascism. Whether willingly or not, Orban has been caught up in that same flow of world view. No surprise he is shaking hands with Putin even as Putin is slaughtering Ukrainians nearby.
Orban wants to keep the economic advantages of being an EU member while simultaneously keeping Putin (and presumably others) from destroying him. A tightrope.
The public comments aside, I suspect that most US and EU diplomats are quite aware of Orban's predicament.
For that matter, so is Ukraine.

Research Orban and Russian career criminal Semion Mogilevich.

It’s more than that. Look back in European history far enough and everyone has done the other guy wrong at one time or another. That’s why the EU really only works as an economic unifier. Everybody hates the other guy - not just for WWII or the Cold War but for generations before that. Revenue George Washington saw that.
If you do a little research you will see that what is going on actually is counter-intuitive to Magyar/Russian/Eastern Slavic historical relations.
I tried to give some context to the linked Politico article, which was shallow and implied incorrect conclusions. Your knee jerk priori regarding European peoples and their histories sometimes makes you miss what is actually happening.
My post provides a road map to expand your understanding.

But they didn't, it was an urban legend which took on a life of it's own. UA defense ministry said as much, based on their known shootdown count, but they obviously had a lot of better things to be doing than stamping out internet memes.

If UA had fabricated a motivational war hero that's understandable and harmless.

do you believe the assessments of ISW are fabricated?
dont be a fool and say foolish things. We have differed in our subjective analysis, but when i post developments on the battlefield, not a single person here has been able to refute it.
Give me a break dude, you constantly post subjective articles that have an agenda, and fail continuously to circle back when they are wrong.
did poland have a critical falling out with UA over grain?
did russia execute a blitzkrieg style attack on The donetsk salient?
dont be a clown, come to the party with comments that reflect reality please. Or just keep cutn and pastn

The “reality” on the battlefield is that UA has momentum. They have opened new breaches every couple of months, they have attrited RU forces on a scale of 1-4. They have continuously taken ground for the last 6 months. This of course may be a huge lie, but i choose to believe the entire western world’s intelligence apparatus backed ip by third party geolocation of both troop positions and destroyed equipment.
if you want to believe RU propaganda thats on you. Until proven otherwise, my assessment is that UA is still on the move, and the RU cannot stop them atm.
the RU just lost a combat groups worth of equipment in 10 days. Soak that in
i challange anyone to refute these statements with hard data……..otherwise you are just spinning words like children mad that the game isnt going your way. Just because the magic propaganda light box makes you want ukraine to lose, does not make it a reality
