Southwest doesn’t let families preboard. They board after the a group. Preboarders aren’t allowed to take exit rows or the first row to allow the best seats to the people who check in first or pay to board first.

I thought family boarding is after the A group? Or did I just imagine that?
Preboards are usually medicals/handicapped I thought?
My children were well behaved on airplanes because my spouse and I were highly involved in providing activities and snacks. Small children are easily on sensory overload, tired, or experience new things like ear pressure pain.
Most problems with children result from a lack of planning on the part of the parents.
Sometimes though, you can have perfect conditions and the kid will just be a screamer.
Worst offenders I’ve seen though are grown-as$ adults.

It’s funny because “American Airlines” isn’t the call sign either. With that being said ATL ground is the only place I know that pulls that radio etiquette stuff. Yes they are right and yes that’s the rules but I’ve probably been corrected by ATL ground more times in
my career than all the other controlling agencies combined.

They are right, and in general they are a pleasure to work with.
