But seriously, wouldn’t the profession benefit from being widely recognized as having these attributes? Many pilots are strong leaders who carry themselves with humility and compassion. Sounds like a spot on description of corporate America’s executives.

I’m sorry but even my company (b6) doesn’t want pilots to cross belts while in view of the public with our uniform on. And ya you will never see me cross belts again. I’ll grab a coffee or whatever else but I’ll never help tidy up the back of the plane for many reasons.
Also you have just started at a regional in June based on your post history so please just go ahead and stop helping now.
Full disclosure, while at the regionals I thought I was doing a big service helping people clean and dumpster dive in the back, then a pilot got stuck with a needle and the company said ‘Sorry cleaning wasn’t part of your job description’. That fixed my cleaning attitude quickly.

Stop doing “chores” in the back while in uniform. It degrades our profession and is an embarrassment. Same goes for pushing wheelchairs. Knock it the **** off!!!

Only pilots I ever see pushing wheelies are southwest guys.

JetBlue, too. At least they did a couple of years ago.

It's rare but I will get a stroller when I see a parent, traveling alone, that's been standing at the door waiting for too long. Gotta be tough traveling solo with kid/s.

Doing everyone else's job does more harm than good, for the most part.

Same. Solo parent trying to corral/appease a kiddo while waiting for a stroller or car seat in a freezing cold/blazing hot jetway will get me moving every time. But...I've seen a few pilots recently pushing wheelchairs (two yesterday in ATL alone!). I cringe everytime when I think of the liability there should someone take a spill. Why do you think airlines outsource that stuff?

I will always offer to do that. That is just being a decent human being.
