Probably. Hey atl ground I am a sky god that used to fly the 175 and I can fix it from the ground by asking if they ran the qrh. I’m sure ground just said sure go over to tower and tell them.

Yes, and I wrote the most likely explanation in my original post.

The only thing I can't figure out, though, is how he would have known to volunteer that he had 175 time had ground not asked. Not like he'd be monitoring tower at the gate, right? So that seems to eliminate whatever portion of his douchiness that would have been derived from having gone out of his way to volunteer.

Still a douche, don't get me wrong. You know who also has experience on the airplane? The people flying it. Jesus.

If they asked for 175 guys to come up on tower I’d be shocked if there wasn’t a 175 or 190 somewhere on ATL ground that woulda rogered up.

The QRH question, in any case, the bridge too far.

I’ve listened to it. Personally, I would’ve stayed radio silent, but that’s just who I am.

With that said, you guys are a tough crowd. Sky gods all, and apparently all of you have never made what some random nobodies in some aviation forum (you folks in this one) will consider a major aviation Faux Pas. Socially perfect every time, one and all of you.

Right?!

God forbid if you ever actually try to
help someone, as far as you judgmental clowns are concerned.

But actually, this is how most Internet forums are, so I’m not surprised.

Glass houses and stones are coming to mind.

First off, DL 2304 is on the ground from what I can tell...he checks in with tower and says “tower, Delta 2304, ground sent us over...” to me that says that the tower (correctly) figured the guys at the controls of the aircraft had their hands full of an angry jet, and were looking for guys with experience on the E175 if needed. You could hear it in their voices. They couldn’t even talk on the radio.

So this Delta FO? (Most likely) who tells ground, when a call goes out if anyone has experience on the E175, come up on tower 119.3 and he checks in saying ground sent him over cause he’s got experience on the type, he’s a douche or a pompous ass, or just your typical “double breasted van admiral” behavior.

I only heard a guy trying to help, and as presumptuous as it sounds, asking the crew if they ran the QRH, as a last ditch effort, the pilot responding even admitted that they hadn’t run the QRH. They were struggling to stay alive. You Delta haters can hate all you want. The guy I heard was just trying to help and I’m guessing a call went out through the various ground frequencies because the controller could tell the guys had their hands full and any help they could find might make a difference.

If you watch the screen, I couldn’t even tell if it was real time because the RAH4439? Target stayed in the same general area in the southeast corner of the airport area but ended up around 14,000 or 16,000 before they were ever able to get the aircraft to descend.
It was highly inappropriate and a waste of a potential resource. The tool was windbagish. Yes the crew hadn’t performed the QRH because sometimes complexity requires immediate human action. It’s rather obvious that brickyard needed immediate action to save their aircraft; and that’s exactly what they did. In times like this, other users of the frequency should keep out so that proper and warranted torrents of communication are uninhibited. Gosh, even the rawest delta reject, regional puke such as myself knows that.

Have you ever once in your experience flying planes professionally or for pleasure heard a controller say on a frequency "hey quick! Who's got experience on XYZ type to help these guys out!?"
Yeah. Me neither.

I suspect it went something more like this:

ATL Ground: For those of you on freq, departures have been stopped indefinitely. I say again, departures are stopped.
Our DAL Hero: *indignant tone* Uh ground. What's the reason for the stop?
ATL Ground: There's an E175 with severe control issues doing circles off the departure end of the south complex trying to regain control of their aircraft.
Our DAL Hero: Ground, I've got experience on that type. What freq are they on? I'll see if I can sort them out.
ATL Ground: Ummm sure...they're still on tower. 119.3.

Sometimes less is more, folks.

The only people getting defensive on this topic are other DAL pilots. Writing “judgmental clowns” shows your disdain and bias about this whole situation.
