Default cellphones and safety

Just curious.. an informal survey.

Has anyone had any incident or issue with an aircraft acting up due to someone (either crew or pax) leaving their cell phone on?

Anyone have any documented cases of cell phone induced problems?

I am usually the idiot that forgets. I get a "fffiizzzttt" sound in the headset. I think it is the phone trying to find a tower. Other than that I never see anything in the avionics.

I have heard that too in certain airplanes. Turning my phone off will get rid of it. I too however have never seen a needle quiver before.

Same here. I just get the chirping sound in headset. Especially when the headset cord lays across my pocket that has my cell phone in it. I also get that sound on my TV set and computer when I set the cell phone down next to them.

I haven't experienced any problems with any instruments when a cell phone is turned on though. Although, I wonder if the ADF would be more susceptible to a cell phone more than the other instruments given its sensitivity to static.

Never had any issues with someone using a cell phone during run-up or flight. I wouldn't know about any interference through our helmets as the aircraft makes plenty of weird noises on its own.

The only intereferance I've ever heard was from the Nextel's. Other than that, I feel there's no problem. I've never gotten service above 5k long enough to call someone if I wanted anyways.
