This just may be the low water mark in the attack on labor that started with the Reagan administration. When D scale employees are replaced with E scale employees, a new low has been reached. T

hey say there is an overall employee shortage coming. (as the result of boomer's retiring/dieing) If this is the case, this kind of treatment will be a thing of the past.

Labor will rise again. Or not.

From another forum....

Well, just talked to my friend that still works/worked at my old store. They basically fired the most loyal employees. He had been with CC almost 8 years and got ONE month severance.

They made all the people they were firing come in at 8:15am. When he saw who was there, he thought it was going to be a positive meeting because it was all people that had been at the store a long time. Wrong.

There were people at other stores with 10+ years at CC and they all got their walking papers.

That's why the B6 idea of the 5 year personal service contract is so good for management. Too many pilots getting near the top of the pay scale? Don't renew their contracts and offer them an interview to start at the bottom again.

Besides, they have enough resumes to replace the entire pilot staff.

I've been doing pretty well since Ronnie, so obviously he wasn't hunting for all labor. A boatload better than under jimmie. Would you prefer Circuit City go under and lay off everyone?

Don't worry comrades the market will decide if it was the right move. We should know by Mayday.

Well that's it then! My argument is completely invalid. Based on your experience we can conclude that there has been no attack on labor since the 80s. Well done FDXLAG. You are genius.

Thanks, you are not the first to think that.

But as far as your argument being invalid, I do not understand? Do you mean to say labor has been under attack since the Reagan administration is an argument? You and I must have vastly different understandings of the terms argument, attack and labor. Or your definitions of the terms must be so vague as to make your statement nearly meaningless.

For future reference, the parts of my post that you chose to ignore can be considered an argument.

Sure Frank got some help from Reagan. But it was Carter Admin and a Democratic Congress law's that gave him his start. If using Frank Lorenzo to justify the statement it should be: this may be the low water mark in the attack on airline labor that started in the Carter Administration.
