Yep the rule is an outdated obsolete boomer tradition based on feminism. It needs to go. There is absolutely no reason pilots cannot have neatly trimmed and well groomed facial hair.

It's toxic masculinity. No room for that these days.

Weak facial hair on some men make them look transgendered. I think patchy ‘wiffle’ beards worn by some gents create a positive grooming environment for those ladies who want to look a bit more manly with facial hair of their own. If the transitioning female to male community spoke up about wanting beards, I’m betting that would open up beard wearing overnight.

Excessive attention to male grooming rituals reminds me of John Calhoun’s famous mice experiment in 1968, particularly the mice dubbed “the beautiful ones.” The experiment did not end well. (Probably debunked now, because what isn’t?)

Being able to shower, shave, brush teeth, comb/brush a tight haircut and be out a hotel door in 20 minutes quite nice after waking up at 3am body clock time after a 10 hour layover is quite nice.

(This might just be thin beard with way too much grey jealousy talking here)

I don't understand the dudes that style their hair either. What if that hair gel drips into their eye during a critical moment in flight?

I just can't believe that its so important to have your precious beards. The job is simple:
1) Fly the company planes
2) Fly them the company way
3) Fly them in the company uniforms
With pay, retirement, disability, scheduling issues and you guys are whining about getting to grow a beard.

Because some of us are just downright ugly without one!

All-important beard permissions to attract the self-important millennial-and-younger crowd, also known as the "look-at-me" selfie crowd. Vanity, above all else.

There's a lot to look forward to for 2023; growth, upgrades, etc. It would take a very small mind to put a beard anywhere on the list. A very, very small mind.

Grow up.

It's nobody's hill to die on and doesn't justify any negotiating capital, but also, come on.

Agreed.

Hint, It’s NOT about the beard. But I do know people with beards who smell like curry & skunk weed.
