Like it or not, the airline pilot community is becoming more diverse. Military grooming standards from the 1960s aren't always going to make sense today.
I don't care if anybody else has a beard. I'm just telling these guys why it's not allowed at most majors.

I also do not want to pay for someone else's beard privilege, but they are more than welcome to it if they can get policy relief outside of section six.

That^^^

We can’t draft people to fly on our aircraft. Let’s say that things HAVE changed, and the whole military appearance thing is only an issue with 10-15% of our CUSTOMERS. Anyone care enough about body piercings, controversial tattoos, and body hair that they want to send 15% of your business to a competitor? That’s the question management asks.

Even with a uniform cap this guy’s gonna look a little…dicey.

absolutely irrelevant to this discussion, I guess you don’t have a real argument so you resort to a strawman.

Don't you get it?, it's a slippery slope, it's beards today, but for sure it's lingerie and ass-less chaps tomorrow! Every single time there are beards allowed, it all goes to hell right after.

Technically there isn’t a rule about splitting your tongue in two. So I guess there’s always that.

Yep, that's why I said his strawman was irrelevant.

Someone could already do that today but he ignores that, because he can post an unusual picture and try to scare people.

It kind of betrays what type of person is against this. Those who are scared of management, or scared of beards, or just plain scared.

No, it’s those who in another life have BEEN management and UNDERSTAND the slippery slope argument. And how 5% of the employees constitute 80% of the HR workload.

And again, answer the question: Would you do something that would discourage even only 10-15% of CUSTOMERS to let an employee have a beard.

Here's what I get. It's about upholding a standard. A code reflected in plain sight. Doesn't matter who locks themselves in behind the clipper door tonight, every one of them hand selected, trained, tested & highly paid for one thing, taking care of YOU. No beards, face tats or studs. https://youtu.be/mX8yCh25tNM

More irrelevant strawmen. But I guess since you are management I should expect you to be anti pilot.

Entirely relevant, not a straw man and you aren’t paying attention. I was management in another career altogether, prior to becoming a commercial pilot.
