I remember Pinnacle had pilots hired 2002-2005 that left to majors like Delta, Continental, and United in 2006-2007. Why? ALL of them were hired at the right time, at a growing airline, upgraded, got their time, and moved on. Right now, the only regionals with any growth are GoJets and Silver. Considering my background and the stagnation I saw, I will always recommend going to an airline that is growing and scheduled to do so for the foreseeable future. At 9E, in 2007, the growth was all done, and the only reason the hiring/upgrading continued is because people were bailing like crazy for other regionals outta 9E.
Thanks Shy. I know this all too well. I'm just trying to make the best decision for myself, my family and my career and am trying to get today's facts, not the news from 7 years ago when G7 was born.

I've attended a handful of job fairs, spoken to recruiters/hiring managers/HR people etc., met guys in the jumpseat with connections to their respective hiring committees and all have looked at my resume & credentials and made suggestions as to where I should go with my career if I wanted to work for their company. Some gave me similar goals, some different ones all together. However, each and every one said "Do whatever it takes to get X, then we'll interview you." Not one person said "Oh ya but don't go to G7." Only one company and one kind of operation was mentioned to try and avoid and they aren't even on my radar of places to apply to at this point.

Oh Shy, unlike at Pinnacle you have no idea what's going on here or what's in the works.... Also, do think OO guys and gals won't move on in the hiring wave? Do you honestly think its going to be based off PIC? If there's any resemblance of a shortage the 1000hrs PIc will be waved to accommodate hiring needs.
I choose OO over GoJet and that quick upgrade because guess what? That quick upgrade can come to a halt rather quickly. I'd much rather be at a place I can make decent money and have QOL that GoJets simply can't provide...

I think you're saying don't come here because either A. We didn't hire you or B. you didn't get an interview after you applied.

One thing I have learned in my 6 short years at Comair is never chase an upgrade not matter how big the carrot might be! It's a leap of faith and you hope you get lucky! I will never work for a regional again. I am done with the drama and the crap wages!

Never mind. I'm getting real sick of explaining this stuff to n00bs. Maybe it's time to create a sticky with links to all the GoJet threads created in the last 7 years.

Because there's no hope for those of us that work here....

What is known at the time is Skywest will be losing 66 CRJ-200s and gaining 29 CRJ-900s. Then there is the 30 or so CRJ-200 that may find work, but the bottom line is that there is a net fleet loss projected. GoJets on the other hand is growing and has airplanes coming. Sure, they could stop, but then again, anything could happen. But for future growth, I'd venture to say the GoJets and Silvers (the new entrants) will get the new regional growth because their longevity is super-low, not like the 10-20+ year pilots at "legacy" regionals.

And no, why would I apply to Skywest? I was already at a DCI regional and applied to corporate carriers and LCCs. I had no reason to apply to Skywest.

What an immature response.

Responses like these are what are wrong with our career. Pilots are nothing more than a bunch of selfish children, who only have themselves in mind, and are willing to stab each other in the back. This right here is our demise.

They're getting rid of the oldest 200 airframes we have. While the other airframes are put to work in United or Airways feed. The loss of airframes follows what is projected we loose in pilots when the majors start hiring. Don't preach about a company to which you have no inside information about or are a part of.

The formula OO has used the last 40yrs hasn't failed yet and has seen tougher times than this....
If I were you, I'd be worried more so with Virgin bleeding $$$$

Mod Note:

Anybody who makes less-than-meaningful posts (you know, those stupid In Before The Lock nonsense) will go on a 3 day holiday away from APC. Have fun!
Lol...beats chest.
