Mature Gojet discussion

EDIT: Also don't be one of those guys who says they work for "United Express" or are too shame to put where you work on Facebook. Have some damn pride in your job....if you work for GoJet it shows that you're a professional when you don't have to mask where you work. Jesus.

I would recommend going to a regional with a good QOL, above-average pay, a great reputation, and experienced crews. A quick upgrade at some no-name puppy mill isn't worth it.
At least that's what I thought back in 2003, and look how that turned out.
I'm done giving advice.

Now given the current state of the industry, would somebody who joins gojet today still be frowned upon?
Is it worth the risk? Really, if you have to ask this question...
Is commuting really as bad as some say it is?
Worse.
What's upgrade time like?
It is a very busy time, and the first thing you notice in the sim is all your muscle memory is backwards. Ohhhh, you meant how long to upgrade. It doesn't really matter what it was in the past, in the future it could change dramatically.
For full disclosure, I’ve never been a really big fan of gojet, but right now, I’m facing a very uncertain future at my own airline, and I’m trying to decide if I should be looking at gojet.
I think about 70% of regional pilots are facing an uncertain future right now.

In my experience nobody says anything to their faces...that being said having interacted with them a bunch on the jumpseat, they were almost giving each other high fives over getting the Comair planes which I found infuriating.
I also had a captain there question (interrogate would be more accurate) me about rumors of our guys denying them jumpseats. I haven't seen it.
Most guys there will also tell you their contract stinks and management rules with an iron fist.
Also remember, they require 4000 hours to upgrade or 2500 on their aircraft. When hiring hit this fall there will be movement at a lot of places.
Have I seen them denied the jumpseat? No.
Would I deny them? No
Would I want to work there? No

Fly wherever you want to fly but make sure you make your decision NOT based on what the upgrade time is but how long the commute (hopefully none), and how great the work rules are.
If you live in STL, ORD, or RDU and love working for a company that literally doesn't care if you live or die....a career at TSH is for you.
Otherwise seek employment elsewhere.
Also don't let people on a forum do your decision making for you...you're a big boy.

Why is there no need for a "mature pinnacle thread" or a "mature horizon discussion" ? why do people always have to ask for a mature gojet thread? shouldnt that fact alone speak volumes about gojet?

I have never actually met anyone who really looks down on Gojets pilots. Most of the pilots I know realize that the regionals were always intended to be a step for us and a chess piece for management. With that in mind, Gojets is a regional airline, and as such, has a substandard contract, as do all regionals (comparatively speaking, of course). If you are a gambling man (or woman), it may be worth the jump if the quick upgrade actually happens. Personally, I don't think I could do this job for any regional if I had to commute, but that's me.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

It really shows more about the offending pilot than any GoJet pilot.

I overheard something like this too, it really sucks that one group is gloating over the misfortune of another especially when it will probably eventually happen to all of us if we are stuck at the regional level too long.

No because so many people on here have nothing to do but bash GJ. It's nice for once to see a discussion about how things really are there, not just the Internet hype. Like was said before, we are all on the chopping block at any given
moment so all options need to be kept open. Not to mention all the childish crap that gets these threads locked really makes you guys look like morons not professionals. This isn't high school. MODS: thank you for cracking the whip to help these people grow up.
