Gojet preparing for CRJ 900's
#51
In a word, No. has a former Comair, I have seen first hand what Delta thinks about them. It's not looking pretty. But then some buds that are still there say they are going down to 44 A/C total and Delta wants HUGE paycuts from the pilots and FA's. I stopped trying to figure Delta out a loooooooooooooooong time ago and just enjoying charters for now.
Where are these 900's coming from?

I don't know if G7 will be getting more lift for DAL, because I have heard that CPZ has been picking up the slack for G7. G7 has had some issues with flight completion with the 12 jets that they fly for DAL currently. I think that PNCL will get the lionshare of the 76 seaters because of the debtor in possession loan for them. They have a huge financial stake in PNCL. Not only that, but PNCL has a very large portion of the DCI flying. So that would be a lot of seats removed from DCI if they didn't replace the 50 seaters with the 76 seaters there.

Delta's investment in Comair was to take control. Comair had gotten rich of it's flying and the contract with Delta in the 80's and 90's. Comair was in a strong cash position at the time and Delta did not want to run the risk of Comair using their bankroll to become a competitor. So 1.8 billion to purchase
Comair at the time looked like a way to save money in the future.
Pinnacle need money to stay operating. It would have likely cost Delta much more than that, plus the bad publicity that one of their operators cease operations. So 73 million may save them money for an orderly reorganization or wind down.
It is all cost vs benefit.

Truly said! And whoever said the regionals "took" flying from mainline...wasn't it mainline that contracted out/gave away their flying to the regionals.
