Quick upgrade? That's funy, we had those when in 2007 when FO only need to sit in the right seat for 100 hrs before they can upgrade, many Comair guys would come over here for the quick upgrade. It will stop for you guys too, just a matter of when. Why should you be sorry for where I'm at, because Im an FO by choice? I have the senority to hold a CA spot on the -200 or the Q400. So don't make it sound like it sucks to be where I am.
I was at G7 for a few years and I will say this.....All of the TWA, United, ATA, Aloha, Midwest etc guys & gals I worked with were fantastic. The ones that made me laugh were the TSA folks who had no expectations to ever leave. I couldn't imagine working there any longer than necessary. I absolutely hated working for Hulas Inc. No decent work rules, horrible maintenance (11 MEL's once. 4-5 is was the norm), a toolbag "Chief pilot" who will throw you under the bus at any time to intimidate the other pilots. Overall, just a typical Hulas run organization. I obtained my 1,000 PIC and got the hell out. I would suggest everyone there do the same. For all of the TSA pilots who talk sh!t on this board about G7 pilots....good luck. While you are "holding the bar", Captains at G7 are getting their PIC time and moving on. I did and I don't regret it. The fact is while you are still holding the bar I (and many others) moved up a tier in this so called career. I will say this. If I lost my job today I wouldn't go back to ANY Hulas owned company if it would save my life. For you guys who work at G7 and state that the place isn't THAT bad you're lying to yourself OR you have never worked at a place that treated you decent. Now pardon me while these Hulas memories make me cringe. I now must go take three shots of Jack to try to forget.

THIS is the exact reason that the RJ commuters exists today. All of them, TSA included.

So you suggest that I start at PCL and work my way up for another 5 years as an FO? Sorry but for DEC I got 18 days off at GJ. Picked up a lot of OT. You say 6$ less per hour so that means 6000$ a year. Humm $6000 a year, well i would gladly take the quick upgrade then sit at PCL for 5 years for an extra $6000 a year. Do your math buddy. Sorry you are where you are at! As far as work rules go, so far they have been a lot better to me then the last place I was at that had the "killer" contract. My only regret about coming to GJ is that I DID NOT DO SO SOONER!!!!

First---first year pay at G7 is more than Skywest---talk about inhumane and crap money---you got to go real low to undercut G7's starting pay.
Second---anyone at G7 that has been there 5 years is a Captain (upgrade is 1 year right now). Do the math at who is making more.
I have worked at both companys. Not really that much difference except for better benefits and retirement at Skywest---that is a better place to make a career. If you want 121 PIC time without having to sit right seat forever---G7 is the way to go. Otherwise, equipment, schedules and quality of life are about the same.

JetA,
So you had poor career choices. Ok, I get that.
I am curious about your whole decision to no-show the class.
Basically you are taking the job from somebody who needs it. You might even be taking it from another furloughed guy who really needs it. GJ may think twice about hiring another furloughed guy. So the only person you screwed was the next guy who needed a job.
Not sure why you are "sticking it" to them? Did they somehow cause you to have a bad career?

Yes, GJ did make it more difficult for all of us. An airline set up as a shell game to circumvent a current contract and pilot group, and the people who chose to work there, drive the pay down and hurts us all.
They may have gotten extra mileage with the alter ego wipsaw, but the primary purpose was to work around scope. If TSA flew those CRJ's you'd have lost all your AA flying.

Large percentage of G7 New hires are ex-comair. It's nice to have some experience around the schoolhouse.

As I understand it, it was required to get around the AMR scope restrictions at the time. They couldn't put larger planes at the same certificate as the TSA E145's that were already doing AMR scope flying.

1. Yeah, just like the CHQ holding company couldn't keep their pilots on one seniority list with certificates that flew bigger planes, right? Oh. Wait.
2. TSA DID lose all their AA flying.

These "my crap bag regional is better than your crap bag regional" threads crack me up. To varying degrees, they're all CBR's.
