I was in Dayton on Saturday night and I spoke to a GoJet Captain who was a furloughed United guy. He said there were about 50 jet for jobs guy at GoJet and every single one of them would take the job that Continental will be offering in the fall. I imagine that will be quite a disruption...I can see why they would need DECs very soon.

The other GoJet pilot I spoke to at the bar introduced himself as flying for United Express. I said I wasn't familiar with that airline. I followed up by asking which of the many commuters that fly for United is the place you work? He eventually admitted it was GoJet and quickly left the bar with his head hanging low.

If I am speaking with someone who does not work at the airlines and they ask me who I work for, I often say I work for United Express. Why? Its not because I am ashamed of who I work for but because if I say Colgan they have no idea who that is, its easier to say I work for express than to explain that Colgan is a contract airline doing business United Express, Continental Connection, or US Airways Express.
