Is it "fair"? Probably not. But as you likely tell from the responses you're getting, the mere mention of GoJets can ignite some strong feelings, and fair or not, those feelings will likely linger in the industry for a long time.

Both GJ & PCL have their tradeoffs in your situation, and it may be a matter of which tradeoffs you're willing to live with.

Good luck, and although you have a difficult choice, congratulations on at least getting some job offers.

First off: Stop listening to your wife about aviation advice, unless she is in the industry. Too many guys I know listen to their spouse and make horrible career decisions. Get a job with some outfit, move to a mid-sized city, get laid off from job and now the wife doesn't want to move. I see it happen too often.

Second: Don't go to GoJets. It's a nail in your coffin. Do some guys get hired to a major? Sure, but they slipped thru the HR cracks. I know one GJer who was personally escorted out of the building during his CAL interview when the CP found out he worked at GJ.

Wanna be ORD based? Apply to XJT.

Look, let me make something very clear for all of you.

The RJ's at Pinnacle and GoJet were NEGOTIATED FAIR AND SQUARE by the Major Airline Pilot Unions. The major airlines gave up the small jet flying to allow us little guys to have a chance to see what it's like to fly a jet, while they got better pay, more days off and overall better work rules in return. The RJ's being at the regionals are of no fault other than the major airline pilots Union's negotiating those planes away.

They wrote the scope and agreed to it. The regionals didn't write the scope clauses, we just abide by them.

Pinnacle and GoJet are not SCAB's or anything like them in this regard. There is nothing wrong with being a pilot for either company.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight !!
I know several previous GoJet pilots at CAL so enough with the flamebait. If this DID happen I'm sure it was based more on his personality (or lack there of). Stop flamebaiting.

Not flamebait - came right from the guys mouth during his story of what a mistake it was to go to Gojets.

At my airline. If you have Gojet attached on your resume, it goes in the trash. Does not matter when you came on board there.

Obviously your airline is anything but professional. Keep it classy.

Correction, the scope camel was allowed to have his nose in the tent during the late 90's when the majors were growing fast enough what did a few RJ's seem to let go to the prop outfits. The real scope destruction came at the hands of the threat of BK court imposed contracts that could have allowed even more. Most of that scope destruction came with thousands of furloughs, 50% reductions in mainline pay and a destruction of work rules. Mgmt really got the best of both worlds, cheap jet pilots and a wage cut at mainline. Not to mention that as contractors, they can hold the "cheapest" gun to the head of the pilots indefinitely through the contract carrier for hire system, no so easy to hold down small jet costs if those pilots are mainline.

I've flown for both. As far as QOL stuff (pay, schedule, work rules) they were about the same.
MX at both liked to decorate the cockpit with mel stickers. Although the equipment
was better at GoJets. The training was also better at GoJets. The crew force at GoJets was also better
Most capts and a lot of fos were experienced guys furloughed from somewhere else. When I was at Pinnacle there seemed to be a lot more guys who felted they deserved to be a jet pilot and not very humble. That said there are bad apples everywhere. I fly for a major now and the vast majority of pilots don't know who GoJets or Pinnacle are. In my opinion, living in base and more chance for advancement exist at GoJet.
