Perhaps I will be involved in training or hiring at a large airline someday.

I think big Duane himself may have gone down there.
We need more of this.

I'd like to see the factual numbers on that statement. I'll buy the time in type argument. The "less qualified" and "total time" I find hard to believe.

"Less qualified" as in they had no time with the company and the aircraft, and sometimes had no 121 CA time when an FO (not me) had been displaced from the CA seat. I'm not saying that they were incompetent, although one or two flowbacks I flew with I would question. Most were pretty good. I found myself having to make some of the command decisions, and having to "baby sit" some of them. But again, most (typically the ones with a good amount of regional/commuter CA time) did fine. My point was that it was frustrating to be an FO and have to fly with someone that (in my case) was sometimes less qualified, on top of getting screwed out of an upgrade.
In any case, this issue (flowbacks) has and probably still does create a huge divide in the pilot group at Eagle, just the way ole Pete likes it. Of course, you know this if you are an Eaglet.

Scab list. Who cares- the reason the the state of things is so sh@tty is because the unions have run things into the ground. Nobody at gojets crossed a picket line. They're just pilots new to the industry and other that need the work.
What's up with Mesa- bottom feeding- undercutting every other airline- stamping out anychance of making a decent wage. How well does there union protect them? All their doing is paying dues.
This is just pro union bla bla bla bullsh#t. Its one thing to stab your fellow pilots in the back and walk off with the job, but this didn't happen.
Pretty soon this will be a non-union industry and all the grey haired scabb listers will be dead or in nursing homes. The industry is a sinking and the rats are jumping ship, if you decide to stay on the ship don't be surprised.
I don't make the rules- just state the obvious.

For what its worth, I liked flying with the TWA folks (most of the time) more than the AA guys. The TWA folks seemed to have a much better attitude and were easier to get along with. But you guys did b!tch about some stuff that I found rather hard to swallow.
Good luck on getting out of that joint. Why not try SWA or AirTran? Or go freight.

Um... Just for fact clarification.... I do believe that TSA is currently FURLOUGHING pilots, while BloJets is picking up more and more of their flying and routes. Wouldn't that be considered stabbing your fellow pilots (under the same management no less) in the back and taking their jobs????

The arrival of the RJ and SWA have been doing the same to the legacy carriers for the last ten to twenty years but no one has accused them of being back stabbers. For every RJ is a displaced 737.
Survival of the fittest.
