Unpolitical opinion on GoJet
#63
GoJet is a wonderful place to work. You get tons of days off and they just throw the money at you. But the best part, they treat you like a team member instead of just a number. I say go for it. It will be the best time you have had in your entire life. Report back to us in 6 months and tell us all how you love it. I wish we could all be so lucky.

are you kidding???
Pilots that fly for airlines that bypassed collective bargaining agreements though starting up a new certificate or placing jet aircraft on wholly-owned commuter airlines are not 'scabs.' For instance, when AMR did this thru AE, and the AE (ALPA) pilots overwhelmingly voted for a 15 year cba, did those 2700+ pilots become 'scabs'? No.
The current AE (or any other owned or affiliated commuter airline that signed CBAs to fly jets), Freedom (initially non-union, now ALPA) and Gojet (initially non-union, now Teamsters) pilots are just pilots.
Red Baron is seeking answers that will affect his livelyhood, career and ultimately his family.
Is it so hard for us as pilots to step off our proud soap boxes and help this fellow out?
Schedules, work rules, training, atmosphere and pay, that's all he wants.
Insults and intimidation will not make the changes that you scream about from your soap boxes, education will.
Invite Red Baron on your jumpseat and out of sterile, talk to him (educate) about the schedules, work rules, training, atmosphere and pay at your airline and how those were reached thru your CBAs.

Smooth,
I at no point called RedBaron a scab. But if you think GoJets is that very different from a scab operation then you're just fooling yourself. Or trying to justify a bad decision. My point was that someone who considers GoJets a viable employment option, with the wealth of information out there about them, how they were created and why , must have scab-like attitudes and characteristics.
I agree with you though. Information about life at GoJets has not been very forth coming... I can think of 2 possible explanations:
1) Most of the GoJets goons know they did a bad thing and would just rather avoid the flak. Same reason they hide their IDs at the airport.
2) Not many GoJetters can afford a computer or internet access or they don't have the free time or lack the intelligence to use them.

Freeze,
added: I know you didn't call him any names. I just used your quote because it respresented many of the posts in this thread..I'm sorry to single you out.
There are 2500 or so pilots (AA and TWA) on the street, some of them because jets are at AE. Look at how AE was able to get jets (I know APA has responsibility too). Would you rec AE for a pilot? I would if it fits their needs. Maybe I'm just dumb...

You're gonna have a hard time convincing me that Eagle is an entity with scab-like tendencies created with a malicious intent towards another pilot group.

Freeze,
Just like you didn't call him a scab, I'm not calling AE 'scab-like'. It was an example, I'm guessing now - a poor example, of how companies put jets online that ultimately brought huge reductions in airline pilot pay. If 10 or so years ago, the majors and commuters said 'No way' to RJs, maybe many RJ drivers would be junior FOs on F100s or 737s at the majors....who knows??
But, back on topic - AE, gojets and others are here...let's give the Baron the best info for his decision.

Mine does that too sometimes and it drives me crazy! We all know you aren't afraid to voice your opinion so I don't think you fall into the category of "trying to avoid flak".
