Default GoJet copies SkyWest "advancement agreement"

Just got an email from my recruiter to sign a contract to confirm my spot on the waitlist. It's a near exact copy of SkyWest's but $75k instead of 80. Pretty surprising. Anyone else see this?

Yep, it’s true unfortunately, I think they saw that everyone was signing the Republic and SkyWest contracts and they wanted a piece of the pie to keep adequate captain staffing levels for the near future.

The truth is a lot of people are signing these contracts, meaning you won’t get a class date at any of these regionals without signing. It’s sad but it’s where we’re at with the industry right now. The regionals are back in a position of power and they’re scared of going back to the post Covid hiring boom.

For those of us with below 80 IQs who sit around watching MSNBC and are not trying to make the transition from supporting the sharpest guy in politics to the woman who says the guy is the smartest guy in the world, what is this Skywest Contract?

Sometimes I forget people have lives outside of niche airline hiring news. Sorry guys.

Fly 5 years or 1600 hours as PIC, or forfeit $75k. In exchange, you get a training date. Raw deal.

What might be a good deal if going to SW would not be a good deal going to Gojet. There is no reason to go to Gojet, even without a bonus contract.

yeah. But at least the compensation is adequate. I think I'd rather a training contract and six figures, then no contract and go back to the old regional pay scales.

So would it be a stupid suggestion to not spend the “bonus” but put it in a savings or CD?
You leave whenever you want to leave ?
Contract basically means no bonus so we’re back to the no bonus days.
Now if you only watch FOX and you wanted to buy a jacked up truck with your 75k your head will probably explode.

If it works the way the Skywest contract does, the $75k is not a bonus that is forfeit if you leave early. It is "liquidated damages" that you allegedly incur upon them that you will have to pay them if you leave early.

You start with nothing. If you leave early then you're 75 grand in the red.
