Are the CRJ-550s Really Coming?
I assume they are but the Feb 6th announcement only stated that they had signed a letter of intent and no actual agreement. I have diligently been looking for an actual agreement but do not see any.
I see that Mitsubishi is trying to buy he CRJ maintenance system so that they can use it for their MRJs (if they ever arrive). I also see they only want the maintenance system and don't want the production line. Bombardier said the other day they are not going to split it up. Also, last week the Quebec government stated they are not going to invest the 2 billion dollars that Bombardier said they need to keep the line open.
Skywest said they find the CRJ-550 "compelling" but overall it seems like Skywest is just doing that to get Embrear to keep their prices down and to think there is still competition. You can expect Skywest to announce a large order for 175 in the next week although I don't know how "large" is defined. They will be getting at least 25 more to fly for United.
The 550 is mostly pulling seats out and putting other seats in and the all important luggage rack and snack bar. Seems like they could shut down the CRJ line and still do that.
What have I missed. When do the modifications begin. Will the snack bark have M&Ms?

No, they are not coming.
I imagine that they will take a bunch of seats out bring the load down to 50 seats, add the luggage rack in as planned but I'm pretty much considering the snack bar to be dead.
No deal was struck with Mitsubishi to keep the CRJ plant open.
No deal was struck with Skywest to place a large order to keep the line open or to encourage Mitsubishi to buy the production line.
Québec Economy Minister Pierre Fitzgibbon seemed to take for granted that the sale of the CRJ program would soon lead to the elimination of almost all the jobs associated with it, in the light of the discussions with the management of the company.
There was a reason no final deal was ever entered into.
Gojet will finish 2020 with 25 air frames most likely called the CRJ-700 that have 50 seats. The Delta planes have been and will continue to be transferred back to Delta until they are all gone.

There is a lot coming out of the Paris Air Show and none of it is good for the future of the CRJ.
"It is serendipitous that just as they get the M100 defined as it needs to be, Bombardier leaves the market..." said Chief Development Office at Mitsubishi.
As they say in the baseball world, The Fat Lady is Singing.
Expect Gojet to be a 25 airplane company in a year unless we see another announcement out of Paris this week. Maybe the 20 175s that United just purchased will go to Gojet? But isn't there a contract for Skywest to get the next 25 slots from it's sale of Expressjet?

Its not “get a program”. It’s a few things. Wing span, and single engine extraction procedure performance problems with the ERJ... Aspen will need 15~ 700’s or 550’s for awhile to keep service.
