Maybe but doesn’t make a lot of sense if you agree to an extended contract with United with up to 74 converted 550’s. If he wants to retire now that COVID has caused so much turmoil then that’s a different story.

Correct.

There are clearly some reading comprehension issues here. All employee groups is not the same thing as all employees.

It's reasonable to be nervous in these times but spreading misinformation is not helpful.

With three flights out of EWR I’m going to keep hope alive that they are continuing to pick up more flying.

I can confirm that there will be more flying.

There will be STL to the Desert. And, speaking from almost 15 years of experience with GJ, do not ferry a plane to the desert for this company unless you have a ticket home in your hand before you fly the ferry. I don't know exactly who it is but someone of high stature gets a thrill out of leaving a pilot stranded when when GJ is getting rid of him anyway. GJ is not going to pay 300 or 400 dollars to get you home after your last flight to the desert. They will tell you to file a claim with the bankruptcy court after you find your own way home.

It's not going to be a one-day shutdown out of the blue, it is being structured like United did with Expressjet. I expect Gojet's wind down will go something like this based upon 30 years of watching this happen. The only one that ever surprised me was Braniff II.

1. They get everyone in the correct mindset. "We are not going to make it, its over. OK." Almost there.

2. Warning notices, it may happen in 60 days, the notices are out. Gojet is there.

3. The announcement, planes are leaving, won't say where they are going, maybe some people will go with the planes. They have to keep hope going with some to get them to keep working.

4. Planes will be gone no later than the 1st quarter of 2021.

5. Half the pilots to be furloughed by Oct 1st.

6. Flying drops further.

7. Planes start moving to Utah or Arizona.

8. First big glitch with anything, bad economic news, anything really: Because of the new unexpected developments, Gojet will cease operations immediately.

9. Management pilots ferry last few planes to the desert or wherever. Management pilots test fly planes with new company.

10. By December it will all be over with a normal shutdown.

11. Hulas is too smart just to waste money like this. Once the money from the government stops he will shutdown things within hours.

12. The bankruptcy court will pay him probably around 200k per month to cooperate in the wind down/ transfer of the assets.

I think I will be pretty close with these predictions.

There is an old expression back here in St Louis, "When Hulas Kanodia waves goodby, he does it with but a single finger!"

First of all let me express my deepest sympathies with all Expressjet pilots. What’s going on in our industry is horrible.

i have a question, how can management look for other flying options? My understanding is the UA owns all airplanes.

I say he likes a challenge, and this certainly qualifies, and keeps it going with United continuing to stay wit Gojet to fly the 550’s. Again need business travel to pick up but that will eventually happen. Once the election is over and the COVID propaganda ends people will come back to fly on the airlines.
