More importantly, how much less respect for the fleet is garnered with ONLY 50 seats?

Scope.

The United Pilot Agreement strictly limits the number of 70 seat aircraft allowed to be outsourced. And they're at that cap. Reducing the MGW means the planes aren't capable of being 70 seaters, and stay in the allowed 50 seat pool, and saves United from having to fight another grievance on a topic that has already been settled.

The low respect does not come from the number of seats you fly, it comes from working for the worst airline in probably the world. I am just amazed at what I have seen GJ do to people who are working hard for them. Check airman being fired for refusing to do something that was unsafe and stupid. FAs for being sick or injured on the job. And the people who carry out the executions are gone themselves within a few months. They hand the chief pilot or the DO a gun with 5 bullets and they tell them to go shoot 5 people to make a point on something, and use the 6th bullet for yourself so that there are no witnesses left. "Ok, I'll do it"

If you want to be a chief pilot or DO for 18 months, this is the place to go. By the way, we are about to get a new DO.

Oh...Jesus! I’m sorry. I was just trying to make a dumb joke. I’m sorry to hear that. What on earth were the LCAs asked to do (if you don’t mind telling me)? Wishing you all swift career progression.
