Are the CRJ-550s Really Coming?

While I agree, it is worth mentioning Ed says lots of things that don't happen. Been hearing about them 200s going away next year for 5+ years.

Venturing out past OO now? Good for you on diversifying.
Mama Delta’s plan is to fly those birds and make as much money as possible until they can’t, everything else is clear as mud.
The bottle neck in those birds are the oldest 175s in operation, they are in poor condition, and life limited parts are nearing replacement. Additionally, they weigh more than any other 175s, they are allowed to weigh that much because of a grandfather clause explicitly for CP from NW and the conformity costs are through the roof to bring them into standard.
That’s why the airplanes are still there, Atlanta didn’t want to **** away $50 million to move them to another certificate. This could change, it could not. If they get pulled off the CP certificate they are more then likely flying to the desert.

DL will not send those airplanes to the desert, even at their age. The 175 has obviously become a fan favorite for Delta, and they are not going to park any airframes that can still generate $$$$ and keep FF happy. Speaking of the 175, why hasn't your company jumped into the game?
That is simple: $$$$, 9E is turnkey for the program if get the planes ever came. They have the documents, the training footprint, procedures, even the line maintenance guys are certified - as a matter of fact they do OO MX in LGA.
New CEO took over last year, didn’t like the $50 million price tag attached to moving the planes and shuffled the plan. I personally don’t care as I don’t have shiney jet syndrome and don’t care to leave MSP ever. But that is why those 175s are not moving off of CP anytime soon. It’s going to cost allot of money and the planes are old and worn out.

By that logic they won’t park the 88 either? To be fair their mind changes weekly on that too.
