When I first stared flying at my former regional I remember talking to guys passing on AA because their first year pay was 36 a hour, they chose not to flow and stay at their regional. Fast forward about 18 months, and they were all regretting it. Frontier pilots couldn't do anything about the pay scales, hotel situation during training etc. because of the BANKRUPTCY contract. As mentioned before negotiations have now started and will most likely change that. If anybody is on the fence about F9, I would humbly suggest get in now. It would be prudent to accrue seniority and then reap the benefits of a new contract. As opposed to wait for the new contract and then apply. Just my two cents.
Or if one is happy at their regional, by all means stay there and hope for the best.
PS. Don't pay for a hotel during training. There are multiple crash pads within 5 miles of the training center starting at 200 per month.

Well said. 12 of the 16 guys in my training class are former regional guys. 5 of them were even captains with around 10 years experience. All sharp guys.

As long as you meet the mins you are competetive. The only recurring theme is we all wanted to be there. Sell your personality in the interview and your chances are as good as anyone elses. They aren't hiring a logbook. Sorry if that's blunt but there was a few candidates that seemed to think they were well qualified for F9 and they didn't make it until the end of the day.

I was in a fall class, and there was no similarities in background. Military, Regional, Foriegn, 135, and Corporate.

Well if people stopped applying to places with such crappy pay, that pay would go up. Wishful thinking.

So you never flew for a regional, right? Because you would never contribute to the low paying regionals ($20-40/hr). And you never instructed for $15-20. If everyone just followed your lead and stopped applying at the regionals, their pay would be stupendous! Good man!
