Yeah, fair point.

I will say for someone looking to start right now at F9, NK, or SW, I think SW would be better. Keep in mind SW holds a record... 45+ years flying and 0 pilot furloughs. Not after 9/11, not after the 2008-2010 recession. Stability is worth it's weight in gold and SW definitely seems to have done something right. I know we can't predict aviation, but still based on past performance I see SW around long term. Sometimes you just cant put a price on stability.

I Agree with that. I just don't know if it's worth it to leave Spirit for SWA. (As a Spirt or F9 Captain)

That was my thinking. I was fortunate enough to get offers from SWA and Frontier this year. I could see the potential for a great career at Frontier, but I guess I'm not much of a gambler as I took the stability and proven track record of SWA over an uncertain future at Frontier. I just couldn't justify the risk. Good luck to those at Frontier, hope you guys get the contract you deserve.

Start to checkride and the loft for my class was roughly 6-7 weeks. We had a few days off for the holidays in there as well.

Why just the other day as I was waiting 45 minutes for an airport area hotel shuttle a SWA guy came up and asked how we managed to always get to stay in 30 year old places with free breakfast. I told him, "Well sir, it's easy to grin when your ship comes in and you've got the stock market beat. But the man worthwhile, is the man who can smile, when his shorts are too tight in the seat." A tear of sheer admiration came to his eye as he sunk his head low and got into his already waiting transportation service to a city center 5 star hotel.
Barley, that's the best thing I've read on these boards in a long time!! Well done sir, well done!!

There is a stark difference between you and me Barley. I came to Frontier because it is where I wanted to work and where I enjoy working. I have never applied to Southwest, nor do I have any desire to work there.

There's no difference between you and me other than I found F9 to be lacking in things that are important to me. Additionally, I've never applied at SWA either. I was using it as an example because it was already a topic of discussion in the thread.

Default IPO getting closer

Frontier Airlines planning IPO, report says - Philadelphia Business Journal

Here's some more news about the IPO. Anyone have any insight how long an IPO takes from when they hire these banks?

July / August ?

I'm guessing it takes a while longer. I remember reading about the virgin America ipo for a long time before it finally happened. It seems like a long process, plus, I think they want to create as much buzz and excitement in hopes of getting the stock to rise after the ipo. I think the ipo won't be until the fall at the earliest
