What is the issue even if the company found out about your labs? Do you think it will give them reason to fire you because of hyperlipidemia? Or is it that they would insert a transmitter with the blood draw to alter your thoughts about Indigo?
I'm going to get it done, cause it's free and it will save money. If you feel better paying for a lipid profile out of pocket... that's your choice. Insurance costs go up every year at higher rate than inflation and considering the fact that they are lowering our deductibles and increasing dental coverage, our premiums are going to be worse.

$300 a year. It's not uncommon for health care plans to require this for a discount. My last employer started 2 years ago. Health care plans have learned it is cheaper for them to prevent than to treat.

We do have issues here at F9 but it doesn't matter if you are a new hire or a long timer... let's work together at fixing them.
I like it Sulkair... will call Saul GoodMan to take the case!

Not directed at you... a few pages back there was a reference about refusing to share health results. We can be a paranoid bunch in this profession.

I had healthcare career before aviation and wouldn't hesitate a second to submit these results to a healthcare provider for a premium incentive. I know my baseline and every pilot should. If a pilots health is so unwell that you need to worry about an employer dismissing you after illegally obtaining your lipid results then good luck with your next medical. It's not a syphilis result on your SIDA badge. If your uncomfortable with it then enjoy your non fasting morning and we will agree to disagree.

This thread is SOOOOO much more than just about hiring, as it should be, and will hopefully remain.
And even though it does go off the rails from time to time, talking about our healthcare is absolutely relevant to a prospective newhire, as is every other non 'hiring specific' issue they will face.

I don't necessarily disagree with you, nor am I particularly uncomfortable. I'm simply having the conversation with someone who apparently has a thing or two to say about it, i.e. "previous healthcare career." Thanks for shedding more light on the controversy. Now if I was a CA I might elect to pick up a day turn to pay for the savings, and just spare myself the trouble LOL. Oh wait, that might be what they want us to do... This paranoia thing is habit forming. But seriously Yaba, just discussing it with you, and I'm better off because of it.
