You can do a health savings account, which I don't know many details on. I think if you have kids, it's not a good choice.
If you go the traditional health insurance route, it's through United Health Care. You have three levels of coverage. A cheap one with higher deductibles, a "traditional" plan, and a more "Cadillac" plan.
I have the middle of the road traditional plan. I have a family with 2 kids, and I pay roughly 220 bux per pay check, so maybe 440 or 450 bux a month in deductions. My wife is covered under the plan as well, so it covers four people. So far we have been satisfied with the coverage.

I've asked around, and no one in the last 2 classes have signed one. 2 guys from the Dec 15 class have already left, and one from the Nov class left as well, so that's not to say there won't be one for future classes.

So if it's true that apps are drying up, as referenced a few pages back, what do you think adding a training contract would do? What they need to do is bump up 1st year pay, by fully giving the snap backs early. They'll not do that of course, but I doubt seriously they will make a training contact; it would be counterproductive. Losing a few from each class is the cost they'll pay for paying pilots welfare wages.

I was told that there would be a 17k, 1yr contract. I start in April, but I haven't actually seen the contract yet. I'm guessing we sign it once we get there..?
It's going to be really difficult do live on that first year pay (a 50k/yr paycut) knowing that I need to pay for somewhere to stay for the duration of the training program. At $80, for 6 weeks, that's over 3k... Don't get me wrong, it's worth it to me to work here, and I'm really excited about the opportunity, but it is a rather painful initiation to an otherwise awesome company.

Did a company official tell you this? Via email? At the interview? Can you tell us anything more?
I think they're just putting it out there to scare off people that might not stay, but I seriously doubt they'll really make anyone sign it.
I really hate the idea for obvious reasons. PM sent.

When I was interviewed back in Feb 14, We were told that there was a $xxk contract as well, can't remember the number, maybe 15k. However, when we started ground school, we did not sign anything therefore I think it's a scare tactic to weed out candidates. I haven't heard of any one who has actually signed one.

not that i'm planning to go anywhere, but the difference in salary at any of the legacies will more than make up for it the first year.
