The disrespect thing I mentioned was not a serious comment, more of joking at the comparison of a pilot to a doctor. Your comparison to me sounds like a well paid CFI at a JAA school claiming he makes more than the average airline pilot. Yeah the average regional FO, but the guys higher up the food chain... not even close.

That's where I laughed at your comparison to a doctor. the doc's that are in a specialized field blow the median docs out of the water in compensation, plus many do not have to worry about paying their malpractice insurance, since their employer covers that. As far as med school debit, I have seen guys from ERAU with similar debt to my wife, that are still chipping away min payment on their $140K of flight training all while making 1/8th of what a doc in a specialized field pulls in.

So all things considered you may make similar to a low end doc and if that makes you feel good, have at it. But really deep down, you know you are no better off than that CFI bragging to his students about his pay being similar to airline pilots all to justify his current status.

I don't NEED to work that much, but I choose to (for toys).

"Don't compare yourself to others; you may become vain or bitter, for there will always be greater and lesser persons than yourself."

Your way of thinking makes for a miserable existence. If you can't be happy on $120,000+ a year, you have a problem. I'd be more concerned about your guys making $35,000 a year after 5 years.

I don't want to be paid like an engineer - I can't afford the pay cut. I am paid like some doctors (actually, probably more than most - you do the math), and I don't have to pay 40% to malpractice insurance.

Not hardly.

Hah! but apparently you're not worried as you just sealed the fate for your coworkers by also freezing their pay and benefits. You clearly only care about "yours" and not the gate agents or rampers, etc. that have now been forced to bring home less pay to their less fortunate family. remember to wave to them as you cruise by on your "toys" or post pictures online for them to enjoy. I'm sure they will live vicariously thru you. you also don't care about lesser paid F/Os as your dear RPC will not help them but just keep the group divided. you talk about all this help RPC can provide but only under RPC.... keep dangling that carrot and then get your "pouty lip" ready here in a couple weeks.....

Sux4u, the doctors or lawyer comparison to airline pilots is always a bit annoying, but youre being obnoxious at the same time. Not to mention, your generalization of doctors being superior to pilots doesn't take into account thousands of airhead bookworms who become doctors but shouldn't have.

But congrats, your wife married down.

The median doctors include some in specialized fields. Like I said, you can always find outliers who make a lot more than that, but read that link.

As for the debt, ALL doctors pay a lot for their school. A lot of pilots don't.

You're confusing me. First you say we should push for more pay, and then you imply that I shouldn't spend my pay on toys. What gives? Or are you saying that the reason some other employees aren't paid more than $10 per hour is because I make $140 an hour?

Yeah the poor thing married down alright, but maybe if I get lucky and earn those Del-Duh wings, one day her and I can reverse the role's right?!?

I apologize if I came off defensive of the medical professional to what you deem being an obnoxious tone. I have spent many years seeing pilots train and develop through their careers as I have seen many doctors. And while we all have dedicated so much to this profession, I personally have to say our worsts days of grinding it out in the trenches are far superior to many doctors best day's through med school or residency.

So perhaps I could have toned it down a bit for the masses, but I felt it necessary to put a pilot in check who is voting in concessions while at the same time comparing income/success levels to doctors. So yes a nerve was hit, but I stand by attempting to ground my fellow show boating F9 concessionary friend.

And as far as your last comment, honestly man... their are some dumb as dirt MD's out their that scare me! Literally I would rather treat myself for a gun shot wound than have some first year interns have a go at it. But with that said, we could keep the obnoxious comparison going by airhead pilots that I used to interview that could not even brief an approach chart! The debate lives on!

Fair enough.

Which goes back to the old joke : What do you call the guy who graduated last in his medical school class?

Oy! If you aren't going to push for more pay, then hold on to what you already have/had (get your previous pay back). Get your rates more comparable. Spend it how you like... nobody can tell you what to spend it on. Understand that the other guys you just forced cuts/freezes on would love to have what you bought but sure as he|| can't afford it now or soon. Those other folks will not break $10/HR now, will most likely get a cut due to what you just voted in. Don't be surprised if they "key" your toy in the lot.....
