The problem here is that I'm very happy driving 30 minutes to work, working an average of 16 days a month, and averaging 120 hours of pay per month. Now, I have the choice of continuing along like this (less a few vacation and sick days), or pushing for a little more at the risk of losing it all. It makes it very tough to grow a pair of balls.

I think you're confusing dignity with pridefulness.

I've had that happen before in a previous life - another pilot group wanted us to conduct an illegal work action (and consequently get fired) in the hopes that they could continue to make more than we were. Bravado is easy when it's not your job at stake.

And now you're willing to sell your services for even less plus give up your vacation and sick leave.
Management has succeeded in redefining "airline pilot" in your mind. You have to stop comparing yourself to the people working for minimum wage and thinking how lucky you are. You should be paid like an attorney or an engineer or a surgeon.
For now, ALPA has prevented the Delta pilots from enforcing our scope clause so we will have to continue subsidizing your airline for a while longer. Don't think that will continue forever. Your attitude is EXACTLY the reason we must stop the outsourcing.

The problem here is you need 120 hours to make what you should be getting for about 40 hours.

I don't NEED to work that much, but I choose to (for toys).
Your way of thinking makes for a miserable existence. If you can't be happy on $120,000+ a year, you have a problem. I'd be more concerned about your guys making $35,000 a year after 5 years.
I don't want to be paid like an engineer - I can't afford the pay cut. I am paid like some doctors (actually, probably more than most - you do the math), and I don't have to pay 40% to malpractice insurance.
Not hardly.

I could be happy on $120,000 per year but I'd be a lot happier on $320,000.

PS-
How do you guys break up the quoted part of a message and reply to each individual sentence? What button does that?

Faultpush, don't flatter yourself by comparing your pay to a doctors. Just a quick glance at what your top dogs would make at 120 credit hours would not even come close to what my wife made her first year as an ER Doc... And lets not even start with comparing benefits and retirement. You actually compare more to a pharmacist at best. Especially now that you guys are taking pay freezes and hits on 401K and vacation/sick time. In the future, don't disrespect physicians that actually earn their high dollars by comparing yourself to them.

Wait.....where is the disrespect? What is it with so many of you RAH guys and your hyperbolae?
Doctor Salaries
BTW, we have further assurances (in writing!) from Bedford "Please know how grateful I am to the leadership and front line pilots who supported this decision. We will do everything we can not to let them down." He's probably thinking "dammit - I only needed 51% - how much more could I have gotten out of them?"
