SWA - Frontier Senority List Integration
#161
It doesn't matter who is buying who. There are laws to prevent staples. That being said. Let's say you are right. All of the Frontier pilots lose their job because they won't agree to a staple. Didn't the Frontier pilots voluntarily decide to work for less money so they would keep Frontier in business and not be faced with situations like this? Wouldn't it be funny if they all lose their jobs anyway? I think it would. I don't have much respect for people that degrade their own value voluntarily.

I guess I'm missing something here. Does SWA have to take the Airbus's and the crews? Maybe SWA only wants the routes, gates, slots, ground support and the CSRs. If the seniority list integration doesn't go well - who cares?
15 years ago when I applied to SWA, I had to buy a B-737 Type Rating. Isn't that still a requirement for employment at SWA? I can't imagine any judge forcing an airline to change their employment requirements. So, how many of the F9 Airbus crews have B-737 Type Ratings, 4 year degrees, and the required PIC turbine? If I happened to be at SWA - and I'm not - I'd be MAJOR LEAGUE PI$$ED if the Company stepped up and paid for a bunch of type ratings when they didn't pay for mine.
If SWA is over-manned, I don't think it would take too much to generate a little more efficiency with current crew manning or hiring from their pool of applicants. I'd think getting stapled would be a far better option than flying for a commuter or standing in line at an unemployment office. ESPECIALLY if part of the deal included a type rating at SWA's expense.
I don't think we know the whole story on this list integration, or the SWA business plan.

A type rating came with the offer of employment that you don't want. The same thing was done for SWA 727 crews way back when.

And since F9 flew 737's for a while, there are probably a number of pilots there who already have a type rating.
