Default How junior will upgrade go as we grow?

Latest bid shows a 24 year old with just over 1 year on property holding SJU CA...This has to be (or close) to a US major airline record?
The company seems to be intent on taking all future deliveries which in the next 4 years will be 125 airplanes (almost doubling of the airline).

So my question to you all is, how junior will upgrade become next year as we start taking double the amount of deliviers we are this year (42).

Also to add, I think even if they're struggling a bit finacially they will still take the airplanes due to how we record each sale-leasback as a profit on our books. It's a major reveue/profit source.

United is hiring street Captains. Awarded Captain during initial training.

What could possibly go wrong?

Since our cadets don't have 121 time and everyone else is largely bypassing they'll have to hire DEC. Or force upgrade.

With that many airplanes coming they will either really have to grow bases or open a ton of new bases. I guess both is a viable option as well. Growing bases like DEN, DFW, PHX, ATL and you get more senior upgrades. Growing SJU or CLE and you get junior upgrades. Lots of people want to go back to LAS, MCO, and TPA if they grow those again. It’s all going to depend on where they are making money and can grow. I would guess at most airports we are gate constrained so opening new bases across the country is their preferred alternative. NY, RDU, SFO, SAN, LAX, ONT (I know, I know Herc), SLC, IAH, CLT, BWI, STL are all decent candidates currently for different reasons. Some gate restricted and some not so much.

I’m sure they have noticed that 60% of the FO list has bypassed and the age of the newest captain as you mentioned. Perhaps that helps us move forward with contract. Perhaps they just give out 250k bonus to DEC captains while the rest of us make 30-50% less? Forced upgrades sound cheaper…

Technically they're not street captains in the normal sense of the term. They are awarded/forced into a captain slot in the initial drop. They then have to fly for a year in the right seat and log 500 hours before going to upgrade training. Not technically street captains, but still unprecedented to have to force upgrades at a legacy.

I recall a time where I couldn't rent a Ford Focus because I was under the age of 25.

You grow fast when you can get a discount on pay rates, just like American did in the 80s. Know that when you get to a certain size airline and certain revenue you can pay the going rates. Just my thoughts.

That's not what United is doing. If you don't know what you're talking about...
