Default DEN QOL?

Hows the QOL for a new hire in DEN? Thinking of throwing in an app for the supposed QOL and day trips since family will be moving to DT Denver. I'm old so don't want to work that hard anymore and just ride out to retirement. Friend of a friend is TPA based and says he loves it, but doesn't know much about DEN. FFTPilots looks like a year to a line, bummer. He briefly metnioned DEN having lots of super early shows and redeyes? Reserve grid looks like high utilization? Anyone care to comment who lives there or can give me some insight?

Thanks guys!!!

Early shows and redeyes aren't unique to DEN. By the time you submit an app, get a CJO, finish training a lot can change especially with displacements and the turn model. You say you "don't want to work that hard". None of us do. Yet turns make you work more trips for the same credit, so there's that.

Been a minute since I was on reserve but you'll get used & not just in DEN. DHs to wherever you're needed.

An app doesn't commit you to F9, although there's a supposed training contract now? Someone more educated that me can describe that.

I guess submit the app and see how things evolve.

Thanks, hoping for a boost in QOL from my regional. Tampa guy said something to the effect he'd get used 3 times a month on reserve, so obviously that is alluring, but said Denver was more heavily used from what he saw in FLICA. I guess any guage on that would be nice. Things can definitely change and I get that, just wondering if I'd be stepping into something less desirable than where I'm at. Not too concerned with the training contract, as the next airline will likely be where I hang my hat. Appreciate it!

I wish I had a solid answer. Back when I was on reserve I was rarely used in some months, others like christmas vacation and summer I was working almost every time I was legal.

I looked at the reserve grid for DEN just now. Eyeballing I'd say the average is 30-40 credit projection and we're just through half of the month. Some a bit higher, some lower. No idea who has called out sick, who called in saying want to fly, who might have vacation.

Perhaps a DEN reserve will reply to the thread.

Appreciate you looking, definitely get that it's seasonal and might be high and low times. Probably a dumb quesiton, but my current shops view doesn't have "projected credit", is that saying they're projecting to fly 30-40 on the month, or just to this point implying they'd finish the month at 70-80?

The projection is everthing that's been flown and any lines that have been assigned, such as a long call already on tap for the following day. Now we're doing day turns, block and credit is pretty close.
Reserve guarantee is 75, so it doesn't really matter what is credited before 75. But seeing 30-40 at mid-month tells me those reserves have been working steadily.

Picked up trips also count towards that credit. Tough to say for sure but if everybody has around 30-40 then you’re probably correct.

Question about DEN for FOs.

my understanding is that DEN is very senior and DEN CA plug has 12+ years on property?

If that’s true why do DEN FOs stay? As someone who has been at Spirit a while and now contemplating a move I’ve got to say that having a legacy hub in my base where I could be a CA in 6mo would make that decision a no brainer.

Is there something I’m missing about UAL in den vs frontier in den? Why would any FOs, or the lower half of Den CAs not just jump over to UAL?

Not putting anyone down just honestly wondering Bc I’m thinking being a 6mo CA at a legacy in my hometown vs being spirit would make my choice easy.

Probably the same reason a Jr. spirit FO is staying at that sinking ship of an airline. Because you’re too stupid to read the writing on the wall and figure it out.

your hostility and condescending tone is hilarious because he literally says, within the quote you posted, that he's thinking about moving on. looks like someone is too stupid to read.
