I can't believe I even have to say this. If you have to commute to rsv 18 days a month it does not matter 1 iota if they ever call you. I'm away from my family for 2/3 of the month paying for a crash pad and parking and Ubers because the company decided to ruin half the seniority list's lives. End of discussion on this please.

I was a commuter for 8 years so I know the feeling but it's still always a personal choice. In the next contract, the goal should be to eliminate SC (the Big 3 did). Regardless of what we ultimately decide on, reserve will always be needed. Any LOA or interim improvement (highly unlikely), would be significantly limited in nature and certainly would come at the cost of some other area.

But NOT working is just that - NOT WORKING. If you live at home, then it's NOT WORKING. If you live away and can't bid LC, then reserve is the same as being at work. I think we all get that...

Are you an FO ? Most of the FOs here that are new will pick up any and all trips to get hours to leave. Also last 2 months have been pretty slow with the reduced flying.

I should add I live in a base. I was forced to commute along with 100's of others. Not a sob story necessarily just stating facts. SC for 18 days a month is insane, whether you get used every day or 0 days.

The "Big 3" did not eliminate short call reserve. Not at all.

Exactlly... If we could get it in our contract to mvoe to 18 hour call out with a 6 days max of short call (18 hour notice) that would be so much better. DL did it and I think United has a very similar setup.

Thinking about making a switch and was just wondering if anyone had this info

What bases are offered in your class for a new hire?

How long is the estimated reserve time at the most junior base and how many hours to expect to fly average on reserve.

Any info on the MIA base for new hires and the reserve time.
